Our team created images for a wide range of service and manufacturing companies in 2019. Here, we’ll highlight a select handful of those projects for a behind-the-scenes look at our process. We love exploring new environments, from factories to HR departments—and telling the stories that live within them.

– Reynolds American Inc. –

Reynolds American Inc. hired us to capture their practices for organic tobacco production. We shot in an American Spirit factory in Oxford, NC, as well as in the corporate headquarters in Winston-Salem. In the factory, we learned about traditional perique tobacco, which is fermented in oak whiskey barrels and takes years to make, as well as different tobacco recipes and the roll-your-own process.

Once the tobacco makes it to the plant, a complex series of steps takes it from leaf to final form. We got to know the faces behind the process, learning about the roles and stories of RAI employees as we cycled through the three different factory shifts.

Most of the tobacco growers for RAI work within 50 miles of the factory; addition product is imported from Brazil and Turkey.

Most motorcycle aficionados will tell you that their love of their bikes is a lifelong commitment. However, as we age, taking to the open road on a 2-wheeled motorcycle can get tougher; at some point, it may be time to convert to a more stable 3-wheeled bike. Motorcycle enthusiasts across the country recognize that California Sidecar is the go-to place for customized 3-wheel bikes and trailers.

Personally, I usually bop around town on a bicycle. But I was still thrilled when Autoweek contacted me to shoot some photos of California Sidecar’s creations as they roamed around the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Arrington, VA. Who doesn’t dream of the wind in their hair as they lean into the curve of a mountain road?

For this project, we created images from each department, all located within the same shop, as well as portraits of the co-owner and employees. Electronics, fiberglass construction, installation, finishing, painting, shipping . . . we saw it all! My team had a blast learning about a brand-new process and the people that make it happen—giving motorcyclists customized, comfortable options for confident riding. – Fortive Corporation –

Fortive asked us to shoot images of the team within two different companies to support their recruiting efforts via the “Careers” page on their website.

Specialty Product Technologies (SPT) in Elizabethtown, NC, makes plastic industrial components; Gilbarco Vedeer-Root is a major manufacturer of gasoline pumps in Greensboro, NC. We explored every department in each company: engineering, safety, administration, production, assembly, and beyond.

I love shooting for industry because I love the opportunity to meet people at every level of a company. I love capturing how they work together, and I love understanding more about the processes that show up in all of our lives—from the gasoline we put in our cars to our motorcycle-riding cruisers that we may find as our neighbors on the highway. At the same time, I have the opportunity to showcase a company’s attributes and culture in an authentic, compelling way.
