2020 NC TRAVEL GUIDE

– a perfect nc weekend –

The 2020 edition of the North Carolina Travel Guide recently hit shelves, featuring highlights for delicious eats, new leisure experiences, and retail therapy. For the third year running, we worked with NCTG and our friends at Meredith Corporation to capture NC’s vibrant offerings. This year, our team focused on the cities of Durham and Winston-Salem.

Note: we’re caring for our community by practicing social distancing in these uncertain times, of course—no travel for the foreseeable future, but we always love to dream up ideas! We hope that these images can inspire some future plans for you, too.

Working with both professional and non-professional talent, we painted a picture of a perfect laid-back Saturday in Winston-Salem. The city’s architecture, which reflects its industrial past, is transforming into new opportunities to explore inventive food options and products from NC-made artisans. We kicked things off with a visit to Earl’s, an iconic Southern kitchen and whiskey bar. From there, we headed toward the farmers market to check out the local produce on offer; along the way, we feasted our eyes on colorful street art near Wise Man Brewery.

In Winston-Salem’s Arts District, Sunnyside Mercantile’s bright, inviting shop showcases a range of American-made furniture, leatherwork, vintage apparel, and home goods. Their neighbors, Broad Branch Distillery and Fiddlin’ Fish Brewing Company, offer some delicious options for toasting to your good taste.

For NC sports fans, nothing beats a baseball game at the iconic Durham Bulls ballpark. Nestled in the heart of downtown, it’s one of the best minor league parks in the country; local eats and drinks complement the action on the field during long summer days. We had a blast with this one: we shot during an actual baseball game, capturing the moment-by-moment reactions of our subjects.
