THE SIERRA CLUB
– Attracting Everyday Environmentalists –
You might know the Sierra Club as an organization for die-hard environmentalists and activists, but its work is actually for anyone who cares about climate, social justice, or our natural world (which, to some extent, includes basically everyone). In order to help the organization expand its reach, we captured authentic lifestyle moments to motivate “ordinary people” to learn more about what the Sierra Club is up to—and to join its movement.
I was connected with the Sierra Club through the Luupe, an organization that couples female and nonbinary photographers with companies or brands seeking help with content creation. This editorial project was unique in that multiple photographers were contracted through the Luupe to create a unified library of images, providing the Sierra Club with new imagery from across the globe in a wide range of styles. I loved the idea of co-creating a collection of diverse perspectives on the outdoors, increasing awareness about the role that each of us can play in preserving it.
