FOX Family Foundation
– Philanthropy Through a Local Lens –
Fox Family Foundation has been supporting the arts, education, health and human services in the Triangle for over three decades. I first met and worked with the Fox family on the commerce side for a lifestyle and landscape shoot at Croasdaile Farm, a residential community in Durham. They loved my style, and recently thought of me again for the Foundation’s 2021 30th anniversary report. For this project, we shot editorial-style images of their on-the-ground support in action and the context that inspires it: the city of Durham and its surroundings. We kept our crew small to underscore the emotion and intimacy of the project.
These photos captured some very particular feelings—namely, the optimism and determination required to continually roll up your sleeves and dive into community-driven work during a pandemic. This project reconnected us with familiar nonprofits, like Durham Literacy Center and Meals on Wheels Durham; it also introduced us to local organizations we hadn’t encountered before. It was a fun challenge to work on two different projects with the same client, adjusting our approach to meet the distinct needs of their foundation and businesses.
